Skills Training Overview

Vision

The Hive currently operates as on-the-job training through paid positions, allowing members to learn real skills while contributing to the community.

The long-term goal is to become a free training center, sharing practical, creative, and life-sustaining skills openly for the benefit of all.

Work at the Hive

Work in the Hive Community is different from a traditional job. You are not a cog in a machine doing repetitive tasks to pay for food or rent. Instead, Hive work is:

  • Playful – Completing tasks with creativity, fun, and shared energy.
  • Educational – Every task improves skill, efficiency, and confidence.
  • Social – Your team is your friends, and collaboration builds trust and connection.
  • Healthy – Work includes physical activity that strengthens the body and mind.
  • Diverse – Tasks vary daily to keep life engaging and balanced. For example, digging in the garden for 30 minutes is excellent exercise, while longer sessions provide deeper work experience.
