About Tom Coghill

The Hive Community is the brainchild of Tom, a retired Canadian dedicated to building a future that serves humanity beyond his own lifetime.

The signs of a massive social and economic shift are no longer speculative. This is no longer a question of if disruption will occur, but when. Automation, artificial intelligence, and the erosion of traditional economic systems are already reshaping the foundations of society.

As age slowly steals youth, Tom is not fading quietly into the night. Instead, he is choosing to build—right up to his final breath. His purpose is to create something of lasting significance: a new model of community and cooperation designed to survive the extinction of human labor as we know it, and the collapse of capitalism.

The Hive Community is not a retreat from the world—it is preparation for what comes next.

Retirement Principles for Health, Purpose, and Happiness

Conventional wisdom says that retirement is a time to slow down, take on less responsibility, and quietly enjoy the “golden years.”
Tom is at war with this process of a decline to death.

Rather than drift with the current of aging decline, he conforms his retirement by these principles:

Stay physically active
When you stop moving, you die. Gardening, walking, swimming, and exercise keep the body young and capable. Physical effort should have purpose—something that demands your strength.

Stay healthy
Fuel the body with clean, chemical-free nutrients. A low-calorie, high-nutrient diet rewards its disciples with energy, clarity, and sustained creativity.

Stay socially active
Build loving, positive social bonds—people who will stand beside you when strength fades and support matters most.

Stay active in the community
Serve your local community. Do good work. The reward is not money, but trust, respect, and the quiet joy that comes from strong character.

Stay mentally active
Challenge the mind every day with projects that require thought, strategy, and long-term planning. A working mind stays smart and youthful.

Stay positive
Hold the vision. Dream it. Enjoy every step along the path, even when the work is hard.

Tom’s goal is simple and radical:
to die with no money, and leave behind a gift for the children of humanity—
a living foundation that gives birth to the Hive Empire.

Most NGO’s fail to be sustainable. This may be another failed delusional effort of good intentions. In the event of failure, Tom makes one request, mark my grave stone with, “HE DIED TRYING”.
